Over 300 guests attended the 2013 Finance Conference under the theme “The Responsible Financier,” at Harvard Business School on November 3rd. Among the attendees were students and professionals with a shared interest in financial markets and a curiosity to learn what changes may be in store for the sector over the years to come.
The day began with Marc Wolpow, Co-CEO of Audax Group, who shared his experiences throughout his career in investment banking and private equity, and reflected upon the importance of humility.
The morning continued with panel discussions, which covered topics from Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Markets, and Entrepreneurship in Finance. Panelists shared insights on their respective industries and advice gleaned from years of experience.
The keynote speech was delivered by Former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Larry Summers. Mr. Summers shared his perspective on the importance of responsibility in the next generation of financial leaders.
The afternoon delved into topics including Women in Finance, Industry Regulation, Careers, and Sales & Trading. Marcia Favale Tarter, Founder of M Favale-Tarter LLC, presented on the work she did on the Kazakh Bank Restructuring project.
Finally, the day concluded with Jim Lawrence, Chairman of Rothschild North America, who shared his advice to students and professionals from his career and work spent across multiple sectors from consulting, industry and investment banking.
