Over the past eight years, Dave has advised on a number of buyside and sellside transactions including Elan’s $1 billion sale of their EDT drug deliver business to Alkermes, Stryker’s recent acquisitions of Orthovita and Concentric Medical, The $4 billion sale of ConvaTec, a Bristol Myers Squibb company, to Nordic and Avista Capital, Labcorp’s $925 million acquisition of Genzyme Genetics and Roche’s recent acquisiton of Anadys. Dave currently serves as Team Captain for HBS recruiting.

Garett is an Executive Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group based in New York.  He joined J. P. Morgan in 2004, and has worked on a variety of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other structured transactions across a wide range of industries and geographies.  Since May 2008, Garett has primarily focused on providing M&A support to J.P. Morgan’s clients in the retail and consumer products sectors.

His recent transaction experience includes advising: Jo-Ann Stores on its $1.6bn buyout by Leonard Green & Partners; Wal-Mart Stores on its $2.4bn  acquisition of a 51% stake in Massmart Holdings Limited in South Africa; Bumble Bee Foods on its sale to Lion Capital for $980mm; Marfrig Alimentos SA on its $1.3bn acquisition of Keystone Foods; Ticketmaster Entertainment on its merger of equals with Live Nation; and Landmark Communications on the sale of The Weather Channel to NBC Universal, Bain and Blackstone.

Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Garett worked as a Strategy Consultant at Monitor Group for 4 years.  Garett received a BA (Honors) in Economics from the University of Alberta in 1998, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 2004.

Joshua Rosenbaum is a Managing Director at UBS Investment Bank in the Global Industrial Group, where he is Joint Global Head of the Basic Materials Group. Josh advises on, structures, and originates M&A, corporate finance, and capital markets transactions for a broad group of companies in the sector, comprising manufacturers, metals producers, distributors, heavy building materials producers, and the homebuilders. Prior to UBS, Josh worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the direct investment division of the World Bank Group.

Josh’s work in the financial markets provides unique insight on sector trends, valuation and outlook, and he is a frequent lecturer on these topics. He is the co-author of the Wiley Finance book entitled "Investment Banking: Valuation, Leveraged Buyouts and Mergers & Acquisitions", as well as the HBS case study “OAO YUKOS Oil Company.” He received his AB from Harvard University and his MBA with Baker Scholar honors from Harvard Business School.

Marc Weidner joined Lazard’s New York office in 2000.  He is currently a Vice President in the Consumer Group.  During his time at Lazard, he has worked on assignments for a range of clients including Kraft Foods, Danone, Alberto-Culver, Callaway Golf, 3G Capital, Virgin America, ABB and Publicis Group.  Transactions include Kraft Foods’ acquisition of Cadbury and sale of its North American pizza business to Nestlé, the sale of Danone’s water H.O.D. business, the placement of equity for Virgin America, the merger of Publicis Group with Bcom3 Group and advising ABB on various asbestos-related matters. More recently, Mr. Weidner advised 3G Capital on its acquisition of Burger King.

Prior to joining Lazard, Mr. Weidner was an Analyst in BNP Paribas’ Loan Syndication & Trading group in New York.  Mr. Weidner is fluent in French and English. Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris — E.S.C.P. (France), B.A. in Finance and General Management Harvard Business School, M.B.A. (Class of 2007).

Robert R. Merck is senior managing director and head of real estate and agricultural investments at MetLife. He was named to this position in 2003. In this role, Merck is responsible for managing the company’s $48 billion commercial mortgage and equity real estate portfolio, as well as its $13 billion agricultural investments portfolio. In this capacity, Merck manages a staff of 250 investment professionals, both domestic and international.

Merck joined MetLife in 1982 and has served in various capacities in real estate investments. From 1988 to 1992, he was the head of the Charlotte Regional Office and from 1992 to 1996, the Tampa Regional Office for real estate investments. In 1996, Merck was assigned responsibility for equity real estate for the southeast and southwest areas of the country. He was appointed managing director of MetLife’s real estate equity portfolio in 2001 and assumed responsibility for MetLife’s agricultural investments group in 2004.

Since assuming responsibility for the real estate and agricultural investments groups, Merck’s strong strategic leadership has delivered sustainable results to the enterprise and positively impacted the financial results of the business. In addition to expanding the company’s franchise internationally, under Merck’s leadership, MetLife has diversified its real estate equity portfolio, in part through the $5.4 billion sale of Peter Cooper Village / Stuyvesant Town, one of the largest real estate transactions in history. In addition, Merck has significantly grown the company’s commercial mortgage business as well as the company’s agricultural and timber investments.

Merck received a B.B.A. degree from Emory University where he graduated with highest honors and an MBA from Georgia State University.

He serves on the boards of directors of Metropolitan Realty Management, Inc., Cross & Brown Company, CBNJ Inc., CRB Co. Inc., CRH Co. Inc., L/C Development Corporation, GA Holding Corporation and Metropolitan Tower Realty Company, Inc. Merck also serves on the real estate advisory board of the Emory Goizueta Business School and as the real estate chair for the New York Blood Center.

Payson Swaffield is vice president and chief income investment officer of Eaton Vance Management. He is responsible for all income disciplines at Eaton Vance, including municipal bonds, floating-rate bank loans, investment-grade and high-yield bonds, global fixed income and customized solutions for defined benefit pension plans.

Payson joined Eaton Vance in 1990 as a senior financial analyst in the bank loan group. He served as co-department head of the bank loan group and co-portfolio manager of Eaton Vance’s bank loan funds from 1996 to 2007.

Previously, Payson held positions in valuation and corporate finance at Conning & Company, State Street Bank, and Duff & Phelps, Inc., and in commercial lending at Northern Trust.

Payson earned a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He served on the Board of the LSTA (Loan Syndications and Trading Association) from 2001-2008, and his commentary on the bank loan market has appeared in Bloomberg, Business Week, Kiplinger’s, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal.

Charles “Chuck” Toye is an Associate at J.P.Morgan Private Bank and is responsible for providing investment strategy and execution to high net worth individuals and families in New England. Chuck joined the firm in 2009. Prior to J.P. Morgan, he served as an Associate at AlixPartners and a Senior Consultant at A.T. Kearney & Tigris Consulting (now BravoSolutions) where he helped clients renegotiate and implement cost savings programs across a variety of industries.

Chuck earned his M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth where he graduated as a Tuck Scholar. He received his B.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Minor in Economics. At MIT, he played varsity lacrosse and was also captain of the football team. He currently resides in Natick with his wife and two children.

With over 20 years of experience in investment management, Eric is responsible for leading the CPP Investment Board’s Public Market Investments department which invests in publicly-traded assets and related derivatives.

Prior to joining CPPIB in June 2011, Eric was the Group Chief Investment Officer, International at Fidelity Management & Research in Boston, Massachusetts. Eric was also the co-founder and partner of Oxhead Capital Management and has held the roles of Chief Investment Officer of U.S. Mid Cap and Specialty Growth at Putnam Investments and Managing Director at Cadence Capital Management.

Eric is also active on several non-profit boards including Bay Cove Human Services and the Melanoma Foundation of New England. Eric earned a B.A. in Earth Science from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Will  earned a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina — Chapel Hill where he was a Morehead Scholar and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.

Amrit David is a Vice President in the Financial Institutions Group at Barclays Capital and focuses primarily on capital and strategic alternatives for both life and property & casualty insurance companies. Amrit joined Barclays Capital following its acquisition of the North American investment banking business of Lehman Bothers. He has been actively involved in over $35bn in capital raising for the insurance sector.

Amrit joined Lehman Brothers in 2005 after graduating from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University with a Masters in Public Administration in International Development. He has a First Class Joint Honors Degree in Economics and Finance from McGill University.

Al Foreman is an Executive Director in the Financial Sponsor Group in J.P.Morgan’s Investment Banking Division, focused on the origination and execution of leveraged buyouts. Mr. Foreman joined J.P.Morgan as the Global Head of Business Development for the Private Equity Fund Services group, responsible for sales, marketing, and product development of administration solutions for private equity firms and institutional limited partners.

Prior to J.P.Morgan, he served as a Director at Vitech Systems Group where he was the global head of software and consulting sales for Equitrak. Previously he has worked as a senior business development executive at Virtual Growth Incorporated and as the head of the Professional Sports Group in private banking at Citigroup.

Mr. Foreman is on the board of directors of the Get Together Foundation for the Children, the Ashley Stewart Stores Community Foundation, and The ARCHIVE Institute.

Al holds a Juris Doctorate from the Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Connecticut School of Business where he was a United Technologies Finance Scholar and a Scholar Athlete award recipient. Mr. Foreman is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.

Colston Young is a Vice President in the Technology Group at Credit Suisse in San Francisco where he focuses on technology M&A transactions.  Mr. Young has significant experience in the enterprise and communications infrastructure market and in technology leveraged finance transactions, including LBOs and non-investment grade financings.  Mr. Young joined Credit Suisse in 2005.  Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Mr. Young worked as an associate at Bear Stearns and Pharus Advisors.  Mr. Young is also a returned Peace Corps volunteer.  He received a B.A. from Williams College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
